Marine hull insurance is designed to indemnify the shipowner against loss of or damage to ship and liability of shipowner arising from maritime perils which include perils of the sea such as heavy weather, stranding or collision and other similar perils.
This policy covers:-
- Perils of the seas, rivers, lakes or other navigable waters
- Fire and explosion
- Violent theft by persons from outside the vessel
- Jettison
- Piracy
- Breakdown of or accident to nuclear installations or reactors
- Earthquake, volcanic eruption or lightning
- Contact with aircraft or similar objects, or objects falling therefrom, land conveyance, dock or harbour equipment or installation
This policy covers damage or losses arises due to sea and waterborne perils, risks during loading, discharging, docking or cargo shifting, importers or exporters of goods, materials and produce and mortgage Interest cover. The policy can also be extended to cover liability on accidental material damage or bodily injury to third parties.
